Kigoma Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (KUWASA) is inviting applications from qualified and motivated Tanzanians to fill the position of GIS Officer Volunteer. KUWASA is an autonomous utility responsible for the provision and management of clean water supply and sanitation services in Kigoma Municipality.
The position is intended to support the Authority in mapping, surveying, and managing geographical information related to water and sewerage infrastructure. The successful candidate will assist in improving the accuracy of utility network data and customer location information through Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies.
Responsibilities or duties
- Surveying and creating maps for water supply networks.
- Surveying and developing sewerage network maps.
- Surveying, collecting, and locating customer information using GIS software.
- Compiling geographical data from multiple sources including field surveys, observations, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
- Supporting spatial data management and mapping activities within the Authority.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Bachelor Degree of Science in Geoinformatics, Geomatics, or related fields from a recognized institution.
- Knowledge of GIS software applications and mapping techniques will be an added advantage.
- Ability to conduct field surveys and manage spatial data effectively.
- Good analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
