Job Purpose:
To perform skilled fitting and mechanical work to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair a wide range of heavy mining and construction equipment (e.g., bulldozers, excavators, drill rigs, compressors, pumps) to ensure maximum operational availability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance (PM) services as per manufacturer schedules.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults on heavy equipment.
- Dismantle, inspect, repair, reassemble, and test components and machinery.
- Fabricate and modify parts using cutting, welding, and machining techniques.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Accurately complete service reports, maintenance logs, and parts requisitions.
- Work collaboratively with other trades to complete major overhauls.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety, health, and environmental policies.
- Maintain tools and workshop equipment in good condition.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Full Trade Certificate (FTC) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Valid Tanzanian driving license is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in mining or heavy civil construction.
- Proven track record of working in remote site locations.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Relevant trade certification, vocational training, or operator licenses.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging outdoor environments.
- Fluency in Kiswahili; working knowledge of English is an advantage.
