JOB DETAILS:
The following are essential requirements in a candidate:

YOU MUST:
BE A QUALIFIED MONTESSORI TEACHER
HAVE AT LEAST 1 YEAR TEACHING EXPERIENCE WITH CHILDREN AGED 3-6 IN MONTESSORI PRACTICES
MUST SPEAK ENGLISH & SWAHILI CONFIDENTLY
If you do not meat ALL 3 of the above criteria then your application will BE IMMEDIATELY REJECTED.

• You must have the ability to work with children aged 3-5 on appropriate play-based learning activities.
  
• Create individual learning goals for children.
  
• Use a wider range of toys, games, crafts and outdoor materials to achieve early learning goals.
  
• Develop emergent literacy and Numeracy skills.
  
• Understand play-based learning, project-based learning, and sensory play.
  
• Use of positive discipline only. NO forms of corporal punishment allowed.
  
• Zero tolerance policy to corporal punishment
  
• Ability to work patiently with children with difficult behaviors
  
• 1-3 years experience and be able to provide references who can verify your ability to teach vulnerable children.
  
• You need to be comfortable to fully commit to living in Tanga. The position is full time in Tanga.
  

We are not looking for a candidate that is used to a wrote learning or blackboard based teaching style.
Candidates must be able to engage fully with children’s creative and playful nature and nurture their unique talents and skills.

We are a charitable daycare working with children from difficult backgrounds who are considered OVC or MVC. Many have lost their parents and come from poor families. You must have the ability to be sensitive and work cooperatively with the team of professionals and caregivers. Therefore the role is more diverse than a traditional teaching job in that there are opportunities to engage in community visits and sensitization on early childhood learning.
