About the Role

The ECD Professional will design, deliver, and oversee early childhood development programs for children aged 0–8, focusing on cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. The role includes curriculum development, caregiver engagement, teacher training, and creating safe, stimulating learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate ECD curricula, activities, and learning materials.
  • Establish and manage safe, inclusive, and stimulating early learning spaces (ECD centers, playgroups).
  • Conduct developmental screenings and identify children with delays or disabilities for referral.
  • Facilitate play-based learning, storytelling, music, and motor skill activities.
  • Train and mentor ECD teachers, caregivers, and community facilitators.
  • Conduct parenting education sessions on early stimulation, nutrition, and positive discipline.
  • Promote inclusive education and support children with special needs.
  • Integrate child protection, health, and nutrition components into ECD programming.
  • Monitor children's development and track progress using established tools.
  • Engage families and communities to promote ECD awareness and participation.
  • Maintain records, prepare reports, and contribute to program monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with child safeguarding and protection policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, or related field.
  • [2–4]+ years of experience in ECD programming, teaching, or child development.
  • Teaching certification or ECD specialization is preferred.
  • Experience in humanitarian or low-resource settings is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education and child safeguarding principles.

  • Strong understanding of child development milestones and learning theories.
  • Creativity and ability to design engaging, play-based activities.
  • Excellent communication skills with children, caregivers, and communities.
  • Patience, warmth, and a child-centered approach.
  • Training and facilitation skills.
