Our Client is one of the leading refurbishers and outfitters in the construction industry, specifically engaged in the fit-out, finishing, interior works, security barriers, designing and restoration of Commercial & Residential buildings. The Company offers a wide portfolio of international branded interior products and design elements, including a joinery and assembly workshop in Tanzania, specializing in doors/window/entry-exit point security and burglar-proofing systems.
The Company is expanding its dynamic team and seeking a well-qualified COUNTRY MANAGER to drive, champion and attain consistently outstanding outcomes. The Country Manager will work to represent a major brand in the construction and security sector in Tanzania with a possibility in the medium term to further expand the network to secondary cities through franchising, and thereon neighboring countries.
Based on performance, the Country Manager will, over time, assume broader responsibilities and will possess the drive and motivation to be groomed into a director-level role. This position has great potential for growth for the right individual!
SUMMARY OF YOUR ROLE:
• Business Development & Territory Growth: You will develop and oversee business development initiatives and manage sales activities as part of driving revenue, increasing profitability and achieving healthy financial results as a function of the holding group’s activities. Given the expansion plans and growth potential in the region, you will assist in developing a sustainable business plan model that will secure the liquidity and cash position of the business. You must have strong acumen of an entrepreneur and discipline of knowing how to build a business to take it to stabilization and delivering reliable numbers consistently.
• Sales & Marketing: You will be responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing and product development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets. You will be expected to hit established sales targets, and exponentially increase year-to-year through growth strategies & initiatives. You will drive the commercial inquiries and convert to closing sales, and understand how forecasting processes work around managing a sales team. You will develop a robust and contemporary Marketing strategy, territories, timelines and plans, and ensuring implementations. You will be responsible for analytics and data monitoring which will form a part of your reporting, marketing activities and ongoing recommendations to stakeholders.
• Financial Planning, P&L, Inventory & Budgeting: Accountable for your division’s Profit & Loss, Forecasting & Budgeting management. You will develop strategies, monitor Sales & Marketing operating budgets, and implement processes around cost savings, expenditure management, budgeting, while ensuring cash liquidity and healthy financial status of the company. You will oversee mobilization of stock / inventory of material from on-ground workshops, including importation of material stock, so as to control the level of capital tied into the business whilst making the business as liquid as possible.
• People Management & Leadership: You are a strong leader who uses a collaborative, motivational and coaching approach to manage teams, ensuring your teams are achieving performance targets, are responsive, accountable, well-trained and supported, and excel in providing customer service and solutions. You will enjoy developing a healthy performance-drive culture, instilling best practices and lead a team of 15, and future potential of 50 staff count.
ACADEMICS | QUALIFICATIONS | SKILLS | EXPERIENCE
• Academic qualification in interior design, space planning, architecture or construction.
• Degree/Academic qualification in Business Administration.
• Microsoft Office with excellent working knowledge in Power Point & Excel. Online browsing and research savvy.
• Definite Asset: AutoCAD, Photoshop, or similar design technology tools to develop innovative interior visuals, measures and solutions.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE | SKILLS
• Overall, 5 years of experience in business management and development in the commercial and/or residential construction sector, and/or relevant experience in space planning, designing, architecture, interior fit-out or similar roles.
• Eastern Africa work exposure and experience is a definite asset and will receive priority consideration and is a definite asset.
• Financial and commercial experience in complex, diverse, multi-site business.
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset and approach; be able to quickly grasp nuances and challenges of the business and recommend corrective actions.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses/planning.
• High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong ability to effect change with a sense of urgency and results-orientation.
• Ability to successfully develop and manage a high performing team.
• Six-days a week availability.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation and creative skills.
• Communicate & collaborate effectively in writing and verbally with internal & external customers, including remote locations.
