The Country Director will serve as the senior representative of CultivAid in Tanzania, providing leadership across all aspects of the organization’s operations. This includes managing ongoing programs, spearheading new project development, and ensuring operational excellence. The role involves managing all of CultivAid’s projects and headquarters operations in Tanzania, overseeing staff, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring strategic oversight of all operations. The Country Director will ensure that all initiatives, including agricultural training, technology transfer, and capacity building, are effectively delivered in alignment with CultivAid’s mission and strategic vision.

The position requires relocation to Dodoma, Tanzania.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Relocation: Must be willing and able to relocate to Tanzania.
  • Commitment: A minimum two-year commitment is required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Management, International Development, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of proven international experience managing agricultural or comparable development projects with budgets of $250,000 or more.
  • Global Experience: Previous work experience in developing countries, preferably in Africa.
  • Business orientation: Ability to lead market-driven programs, manage resources strategically, and identify opportunities for enterprise development and financial sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  1. Program and Project Leadership
    • Lead the implementation, operation, and scaling of AITEC farms in Tanzania, Agri-cluster programs and market based projects, ensuring alignment with CultivAid’s mission and objectives.
    • Manage the full program lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting, with a focus on agricultural training and economic sustainability.
    • Drive project development and outreach, identifying expansion opportunities and overseeing new project initiation.
  2. Country Office Management
    • Operation of CultivAid Tanzania, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee Human Resources, finance, logistics, and administration to ensure efficient and compliant office operations.
    • Develop a collaborative and productive work environment within the Tanzania office.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build and maintain relationships with government entities, local organizations, private sector, farmer groups and academic institutions to further program goals.
    • Manage external relations efforts in Tanzania, ensuring CultivAid is professionally represented, enhancing visibility, and fostering relationships for program impact and growth.
  4. Monitoring, Reporting, and Compliance
    • Develop and maintain monitoring frameworks to ensure timely reporting on milestones, finances, and program impact. Includes weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
    • Guarantee regulatory compliance and provide strategic insights to scale activities effectively.
  5. Financial & Technical Oversight
    • Oversee program funds, ensuring alignment with budgets and compliance standards.
    • Working with Finance department in HQ and overseeing financial controller in Tanzania.
    • Collaborate with the Technical Department to provide oversight and strategic guidance, ensuring that all technical operations adhere to established protocols and quality standards, without directly engaging in technical implementation.
