Kigoma Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (KUWASA) is inviting applications from qualified and motivated Tanzanians for the position of Community Development Officer Volunteer. KUWASA is responsible for providing clean and safe water supply and sanitation services within Kigoma Municipality while promoting community participation and sustainable public health practices.
The position is aimed at strengthening community engagement, sanitation awareness, gender mainstreaming, and public participation in water and sanitation projects. The successful candidate will support implementation of community development initiatives related to hygiene, sanitation, HIV/AIDS awareness, and social inclusion within KUWASA projects and programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Participating in preparation of community awareness and advocacy programs.
- Creating awareness on hygiene, sanitation, and HIV/AIDS prevention and supporting development of HIV/AIDS mitigation and management initiatives.
- Conducting monitoring activities on implementation of sanitation and hygiene programs.
- Coordinating gender-related issues associated with sanitation and hygiene activities.
- Preparing quarterly reports on gender mainstreaming, community facilitation, and participation in subprojects.
- Participating in development of guidelines for community participation in water and sanitation projects.
- Supporting involvement of communities during initial stages of project planning and implementation.
- Assisting in mobilization and engagement of communities to support project sustainability.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development, Sociology, Social Work, Gender and Development, Project Planning and Management, Development Studies, or related fields from a recognized institution.
- Good understanding of community engagement, gender mainstreaming, and social development programs.
- Ability to conduct awareness campaigns and facilitate community participation activities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.
- Computer literacy and ability to work effectively with different community stakeholders.
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
General Conditions:
- The volunteer appointment shall be for a period of one year.
- Applicants must clearly indicate the position applied for in the heading of the application letter and on the envelope.
- Applicants with foreign qualifications must ensure certification by TCU and NECTA.
- Submission of forged documents or false information will lead to legal action.
- Hand delivery of applications is not permitted.
- No payment is required during the application process.
