Background
Joining the executive team of Coop Bank Tanzania Plc as the Chief Technology and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CTA) is a role that places you at the intersection of traditional banking and future-state technology.
Following the bank’s official mobile launch in April 2025 (which introduced the Coop Pesa app), this position is central to the bank’s vision of reaching 65% of Tanzanians through AI-driven inclusion and agricultural tech.
Role Overview: Chief Technology & AI Officer (CTA)
As the CTA, you are not just managing IT; you are the architect of a “Digital-First” cooperative movement. You will lead the creation of a developer hub focused on robotics and AI to solve real-world problems for Tanzanian farmers and MSMEs.
1. Strategic Technology Pillars
- AI for Credit & Risk: Building predictive models specifically for the agricultural sector, where traditional credit history may be missing.
- Agribusiness Ecosystem: Developing a dedicated Agribusiness App that provides farmers with data access and personalized financial facilities.
- Infrastructure & Cyber-Resilience: Overseeing core banking systems while implementing AI-based cybersecurity in line with ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS standards.
- Automation Hub: Transitioning back-office operations into highly efficient, automated processes to reduce the cost of service delivery to rural areas.
