Role Overview

As a Camp Manager, you will be responsible for implementing site safety and environmental policies, as well as overseeing camp staff, facilities, and overall operations. The role works closely with the Exploration and Environmental departments to support their field activities.

Scope and Purpose of the Job

To ensure guests are well served with meals and drinks and to work collaboratively with staff and management in a smooth, safe, and harmonious manner, ensuring guests have a memorable stay.

Duties, Responsibilities & Performance Standards

Daily Duties

  • Answer guest inquiries regarding camp policies and services and resolve complaints
  • Lead, manage, coach, and mentor camp teams including:
    • Support staff
    • Food services
    • Housekeeping
    • Laundry
    • Maintenance
  • Conduct employee training and performance management to ensure efficiency and adherence to company standards and policies
  • Greet guests and provide briefings and basic information
  • Resolve customer complaints and operational issues
  • Manage guest services and activities
  • Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and camp grounds for cleanliness and appearance
  • Coordinate front-office and back-of-house activities with the Central Office
  • Monitor camp petty cash activities
  • Oversee staff duties to ensure safety and compliance with company rules
  • Document organizational and operational procedures
  • Manage staff movements in accordance with company policy

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Camp Manager
  • Previous experience in bush camps is highly valued
  • Relevant studies related to the position
  • High level of English proficiency
  • Strong leadership, communication, and guest-orientation skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Team-oriented with strong loyalty and leadership qualities
  • Flexible, committed, dedicated, and reliable
  • Good manners and a positive attitude
  • Hospitable and service-oriented approach
  • Age range: 33 – 45 years

Required Knowledge Areas

  • Human Resources
  • Logistics and resupply
  • Basic bush/guide knowledge
  • Administrative and financial understanding
  • Local language
  • Menus, food quality, and food presentation
