Background

Mascons Tanzania Limited is a Tanzanian company engaged in construction activities, rental of plant and heavy machinery, as well as the supply of construction materials. Due to the expansion of its operations, the company invites applications from qualified and experienced Tanzanians for the following positions:

Backhoe Operators – 5 Positions

Responsibilities

• Pre-Operational Checks: Perform thorough inspections of the backhoe before each shift, checking fluid levels, tires/tracks, hydraulic systems, and other essential components. Report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Operating Controls: Operate the backhoe using manual and hydraulic controls to excavate, dig, level, compact, move, and load earth, rock, rubble, and other materials.
• Attachment Management: Select, fit, and remove various attachments such as buckets, breakers, and augers based on the task requirements.
• Working from Instructions: Follow drawings, grade stakes, markers, and verbal or hand signals from supervisors to ensure work is performed to required specifications.
• Monitoring and Adjusting: Continuously monitor the operation of the plant and adjust controls to regulate pressure, speed, and flow, ensuring the safety of other workers on site.
• Routine Maintenance: Service, lubricate, clean, and refuel the backhoe, performing minor adjustments and repairs as needed, such as replacing bucket teeth.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols and occupational health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have experience operating the relevant machine or equipment.
• Must have a valid driving license permitting the operation of the relevant machine or equipment.
• Must have an understanding of health and safety procedures in the workplace.
• Must be disciplined, honest, responsible, and capable of working effectively.

These positions are for Casual Employment. However, good work performance, discipline, accountability, and dedication may enable an employee to be offered permanent employment based on company needs and performance evaluation.
