Qualifications and experience
- Possession of Masters in Laws (LLM) degree and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a PhD in Law from accredited higher learning institutions.
- A GPA of at least 4.0 out of 5.0 or a B+ score in Master’s Degree and a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 5.0 in Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent.
- Must have at least 6 years of post-PhD work experience.
- Must have experience in teaching and research.
- Qualified candidates must be able to teach Law courses at Postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
- Prior experience in University teaching and being an advocate of the High Court will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with the following specializations will be given preference:
- Administrative Law.
- Civil Procedure.
- Constitutional Law.
- Criminal Law and Procedures.
- International Trade and Investment Law.
- Law of Evidence.
- Law of Trusts and Succession.
- Labour Law.
- Land Law.
- Oil and Gas Law.
- Tax Law.
- Legal Writing and Drafting.
- Strong command of spoken and written English is essential.
Duties and responsibilities
- Participate in the University induction program and undertake pedagogical skills training where prior training in teaching methodology has not been undertaken.
- Deliver lectures, seminars, invigilation, and assessments for both postgraduate and undergraduate students.
- Provide academic and administrative leadership at the level of the Department, School or Directorate.
- Mentor and guide junior academic and professional staff in relevant fields of specialization.
- Participate in the development, review, and implementation of academic curricula and instructional materials.
- Develop, coordinate, and manage various university activities and programs.
- Conduct high-quality research, publish scholarly work in reputable journals, and disseminate findings for academic and societal impact.
- Engage in consultancy services and participate in community outreach and extension programs.
- Publish books and/or book chapters that advance the frontiers of knowledge.
- Formulate academic policies and offer technical assistance to the university.
- Supervise field practical, undergraduate special projects, Master’s and PhD theses/dissertations.
- Organize and participate in workshops, conferences and symposia.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the relevant university authorities.
