Background
Kigoma Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (KUWASA) is inviting applications from qualified and motivated Tanzanians for the position of Artisan Volunteer. KUWASA is an autonomous utility responsible for providing clean and safe water supply and sanitation services within Kigoma Municipality.
The position is intended to support maintenance and repair operations involving mechanical systems, equipment, vehicles, pumps, and infrastructure used in the Authority’s daily operations. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring operational efficiency of machinery and technical equipment through timely maintenance and repair activities.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out mechanical maintenance and repair of plants, machinery, pumps, equipment, motor vehicles, and motorcycles.
- Following up accident reports with police officers and filling claim forms where necessary.
- Preparing lists of materials and spare parts required for garage and maintenance operations.
- Supporting maintenance planning and ensuring availability of required operational materials.
- Developing individual performance objectives, targets, and standards in consultation with supervisors as part of performance agreements.
- Assisting in ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment and machinery.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications Required
- Holder of National Form IV Certificate.
- Trade Test Grade II, Level II, or NTA Level 4 and 5 in Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Pump Mechanics, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Welding and Fabrication, Masonry and Brick Laying, Electronics, Domestic or Industrial Electrical Installation, or related technical fields from recognized institutions.
- Practical knowledge in maintenance and repair of technical equipment and machinery.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
- Strong technical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
General Conditions
- The volunteer appointment shall be for a period of one year.
- Applicants must clearly indicate the position applied for in the heading of the application letter and on the envelope.
- Applicants with foreign qualifications must ensure certification by TCU and NECTA where applicable.
- Submission of forged documents or false information will result in legal action.
- Hand delivery of applications is not permitted.
- No payment is required during the recruitment process.
