JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary:
The Workshop Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the technician team. They bridge the gap between the Service Advisors and the workshop, ensuring workflow efficiency, quality control, and safety compliance. They allocate jobs based on technician skill sets and monitor progress to ensure vehicles are repaired on time.
Key Responsibilities:
Workflow Management: Receive job cards from Service Advisors, prioritize work, and assign tasks to technicians based on their expertise and current workload.
Quality Control: Conduct final inspections of completed vehicles to ensure repair quality, safety, and cleanliness before delivery to the customer.
Technical Guidance: Provide on-the-floor support to technicians facing challenges, assisting with diagnostics and repair procedures.
Time Management: Monitor technician efficiency and productivity. Ensure that repair times align with standard labor times (e.g., Mitchell, Alldata).
Safety & Cleanliness: Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations and ensure the workshop is kept clean, organized, and hazard-free.
Inventory Management: Oversee the core return process (old parts) and communicate urgent parts requirements to the parts department.
Road Testing: Perform or authorize road tests to verify noise, vibration, and handling concerns.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a skilled technician with 1-2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
Skills: Strong leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and understand labor guides.
Certification: ASE or equivalent certifications highly preferred. Valid driver's license.
Other: Must be able to motivate a team and handle the pressure of a fast-paced workshop environment.
