Key Purpose of the Role

The key purpose of the Utilities Operator role is to operate and monitor various utilities plants, including:

  • Steam plant
  • Refrigeration plant
  • Power plant
  • CO2 recovery plant
  • Water treatment plant

The role also involves executing quality control checks, monitoring plant performance, and supporting the Utilities Technical team in carrying out basic maintenance tasks.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Monitor BTS plant performance.
  • Monitor and manage utilities plant operations.
  • Monitor operational processes.
  • Execute basic maintenance tasks, including:
    • Cleaning
    • Lubrication
    • Inspection
  • Apply core competencies to achieve optimum plant and process performance.
  • Support the Utilities Technical team in basic maintenance activities.
  • Ensure quality control checks and monitoring are carried out effectively.

Key Attributes and Competencies

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to:

  • Operate utilities plant equipment effectively.
  • Monitor and manage plant performance.
  • Follow operational procedures and safety requirements.
  • Carry out basic maintenance tasks.
  • Support technical teams in plant-related activities.
  • Apply practical skills to improve plant and process performance.
  • Work effectively in a production or plant environment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • NTA Level 5 qualification.
  • At least 2 years of experience, preferably in:
    • Boiler plant environment
    • Refrigeration plant environment
    • BTS plant environment
  • Computer literacy, especially in:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
  • Monitor BTS plant performance.
  • Monitor and manage utilities plant operations.
  • Monitor operational processes.
  • Execute basic maintenance tasks, including:
    • Cleaning
    • Lubrication
    • Inspection
  • Apply core competencies to achieve optimum plant and process performance.
