Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Driver Supervision: Supervise drivers and lead drivers, schedule daily vehicle allocations, lead driver orientation/training, manage performance reviews, and conduct quarterly driver meetings.
Fuel Management: Oversee the Fuel Use SOP, manage fuel cards/dashboards (e.g., Total and credit facilities), perform weekly reconciliations, handle QBE account replenishments, and cancel/reconcile cards during project closeouts.
Vehicle Maintenance & Compliance: Conduct vehicle inspections, manage garage repair tracking, enforce quarterly accessory/tool checks, verify rental vehicle safety, and ensure statutory roadworthiness (insurance, registration, road safety stickers).
Telematics & Safety Monitoring: Review vehicle tracking data (CarTrack) for speed/braking policy violations, handle incident/accident reports, coordinate ride-hailing services (Bolt), and lead quarterly refresher courses in defensive driving.
Operational Support: Fill in as a project driver when needed, assist teams with route planning for budget projections, and ensure adherence to organizational transport SOPs. Transport Officer at Jhpiego Tanzania
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering (Transport Management specialization preferred).
Driver’s License: Valid Tanzanian driving license active for 4+ years with classes A, C1, C2, C3, D, E & G.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, fleet management software, car-tracking/telematics platforms, and electronic approval workflows (e.g., Docuvantage).
Languages & Flexibility: Fluent in spoken and written English and Kiswahili; willing to work evenings, weekends, or public holidays as operational demands require.
