A Tracking Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the tracking activities, ensuring the accurate and timely monitoring of shipments, deliveries, or assets. This role involves leading a team to track logistics movements, resolve issues, and maintain real-time data accuracy. The supervisor ensures that all tracking processes align with company standards and customer expectations, working closely with operations, dispatch, and customer service teams to drive efficiency and service excellence.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision
- Lead and manage tracking staff or dispatchers.
- Assign tasks and monitor team performance.
- Provide training and ensure team compliance with procedures.
- Tracking Operations Management
- Monitor real-time movement of vehicles, shipments, or personnel using GPS or tracking software.
- Ensure timely and safe delivery or arrival of assets.
- Respond quickly to delays, route changes, or emergencies.
- Data Monitoring and Reporting
- Analyze tracking data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or issues.
- Generate reports for management on delivery performance, delays, or incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of tracking activities.
- Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate with drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate with clients or stakeholders regarding shipment status or delivery updates.
- Handle complaints or concerns related to tracking.
- Technology and Equipment Oversight
- Ensure all tracking systems and devices are functional and up-to-date.
- Troubleshoot basic tech issues or coordinate with IT for complex problems.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with transportation, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
- Promote safety protocols for drivers and tracked personnel/assets.
- Investigate and report any incidents or breaches.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in logistics, fleet management, transportation supervisor or tracking operations.
- Familiarity with GPS tracking systems, fleet management software, or logistics platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and reporting tools.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends or evenings, if required.
