OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

To carry out condition monitoring, inspection, and reporting on both mobile and fixed mining equipment using a range of diagnostic tools and techniques. To identify equipment issues early to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations while ensuring adherence to safety requirements and company procedures.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Monitor equipment used in the mining industry, including both mobile and fixed assets.
  • Utilize various condition monitoring equipment, including computerized systems.
  • Operate tools such as vibration data collectors, thermography cameras, sound analyzers, and ultrasonic thickness gauges.
  • Analyze data to identify potential problems and develop remedial work.
  • Perform inspections of components using Magnetic Particle Inspection, Liquid Penetrant Inspection, and Ultrasonic Flaw Detection techniques.
  • Assist in equipment balancing and alignment activities.
  • Monitor and collect oil and grease samples for analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of action notes and technical reports.
  • Follow monitoring checklists and work orders as required.
  • Identify issues in lubrication systems, including leaks and changes in lubricant color.
  • Work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrate work behaviors aligned with company values.
  • Ensure all safety requirements relevant to the role are consistently observed.
  • Immediately report any abnormal equipment conditions.
  • Assist Reliability engineers to fulfil their duties.
  • Intervene and stop any unsafe work practices to ensure workplace safety.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

  • University degree in mechanics, VETA qualification at NTA Level 3 in Diesel Mechanics, Full Technician Certificate, Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • The incumbent Must have Valid Tanzanian Driving License

Experience

  • A minimum of one year experience as a Condition Monitoring Technician in the mining industry, preferably in Asset Reliability Monitoring.
  • Experience with both Heavy Mobile Equipment and Fixed Plant assets.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Technical understanding of monitoring methods.
  • Skills in using diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to predict maintenance needs based on data.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and prepare reports from different monitoring technologies.
  • Ability to perform condition monitoring using different techniques such as MP and PT.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Capacity to maintain composure under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrates commitment to safety and company values.
  • Takes initiative and ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Shares technical knowledge to support team capability.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with stakeholders.
  • Maintains professionalism under pressure.
