  • Description: As an Agroforestry Specialist, you will oversee seedling production and distribution across 100–150 villages and 1–2 centralized nurseries, ensuring healthy seedlings and timely planting. You will manage a team of Nursery Officers, design trials for soil-improving, timber, and fruit species, and implement strategies to enhance seedling survival. Additionally, you will scope new sites for program expansion, promote financial sustainability, and engage with government officials to secure program support. This role involves 60% fieldwork and 40% office work, reporting to the Agroforestry Associate/Manager.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Lead seedling cultivation and oversee production by external suppliers.
    • Design trials for diverse tree species and improve seedling survival metrics.
    • Develop marketing and distribution strategies for seedlings.
    • Conduct surveys, analyze data, and provide actionable recommendations.
    • Present program work to government stakeholders and collaborate on inter-departmental projects.
  • Qualifications and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Agroforestry, or related fields.
    • 2+ years of experience managing nursery production or tree planting projects.
    • Experience with data collection and analysis (proficiency in SPSS, STATA, or R is a bonus).
    • People management experience and technical knowledge of seed sourcing.
    • Fluent in English and Swahili.
