Job Summary
The Responsible Mining Project Lead will oversee the implementation of the CAT Gold Project in Chunya District. The successful candidate will work directly with artisanal and small-scale miners, cooperatives, government authorities, and industry partners to strengthen responsible mining practices and establish a sustainable, mercury-free gold supply chain aligned with internationally recognized standards.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Lead implementation of the CAT Gold Project in Chunya District.
- Work closely with artisanal and small-scale mining communities.
- Collaborate with mining cooperatives, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
- Support the development of a formal and responsible gold supply chain.
- Promote mercury-free mining practices.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement and project coordination.
- Support responsible sourcing initiatives aligned with internationally recognized standards.
- Drive field implementation activities and contribute to long-term project sustainability.
- Promote improved livelihoods within artisanal mining communities.
- Contribute to developing a scalable responsible mining model for Tanzania and the wider region.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
History
- Strong knowledge of Tanzania’s Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) sector.
- Good understanding of Tanzania’s mining regulatory framework.
- Experience working with miners, mining cooperatives, government institutions, or the mining industry.
- Knowledge of internationally recognized responsible sourcing standards.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
- A proactive, practical, and solutions-oriented approach to project implementation.
