The Judicial Service Commission is a body established under Article 112(1) of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, 1977. In addition, Article 113 of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, read together with the Court Administration Act, Cap. 237, gives the Judicial Service Commission various responsibilities, including employing staff of the Judiciary of Tanzania in various cadres.

Therefore, the Judicial Service Commission invites applications from qualified Tanzanians who meet the qualifications specified below for each vacant position and who are ready to work in the Judiciary of Tanzania in various regions and districts across the country. Applicants are required to carefully read the information contained in Section 7.0 of this announcement before submitting their applications.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Applicants must be Form IV or Form VI graduates with a Diploma or NTA Level 6 qualification in any of the following fields: Records Management or Law, from Government-recognized institutions, and must possess computer skills.

Responsibilities or duties

  • General Registry: Register incoming letters in the registry; Register outgoing letters from the institution; Distribute files to officers; Receive files returned to the registry from officers; Return files to the filing cabinets; Monitor the movement of institutional files.
  • Court: Receive documents or letters relating to the opening of criminal and civil cases; Prepare summonses relating to civil and criminal cases; Prepare weekly case lists and maintain files for ongoing cases.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS IN ALL CADRES

(i) Age and Criminal Record

  • An applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen aged not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years, and must never have been convicted of any criminal offence or imprisoned;

(ii) Required Documents

  • All applications must be accompanied by certified copies of educational and training certificates, birth certificate, recent passport-size colour photograph and other documents according to the qualifications of the relevant cadre;

(iii) Current Public Service Employees

  • These are new employment opportunities; therefore, employees who are already permanently employed in the Public Service are not eligible to apply for these positions;

(iv) Assignment of Station

  • Applicants who pass the interview and are employed will become employees of the Judiciary of Tanzania and must be ready to be assigned to any station where there is a vacancy;

(v) Foreign Certificates Verification

  • Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must have their certificates verified by TCU/NACTVET. Failure to do so will result in their applications not being processed;

(vi) Previous Termination from Public Service

  • Applicants who have previously been terminated or dismissed from the Public Service should not apply;

(vii) False Information

  • Applicants who provide false information, for example regarding their age, education or previous places of employment, and this is discovered even after they have been employed, will be dismissed from employment and may also face serious legal action;

(viii) Priority for Persons with Disabilities

  • Applicants with disabilities will be given priority. Applicants should indicate the type of disability they have in their application letter and in the application system;

(ix) Eligibility Criteria

  • Any applicant who does not meet the qualifications specified for the relevant position or who fails to comply with any of the conditions listed in this announcement will not have their application processed;
