Job Summary

The Radiographer performs diagnostic imaging examinations using X-ray and related equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. The role ensures patient safety, image quality, and accurate documentation while adhering to radiation protection standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures (e.g., chest, skeletal, abdominal, mobile, and fluoroscopic exams).
  • Position patients correctly and adjust equipment to obtain optimal images.
  • Operate X-ray machines, digital radiography systems, and PACS.
  • Apply radiation protection principles (ALARA) to patients, staff, and self.
  • Verify patient identity, review physician orders, and explain procedures to patients.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media as required, monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Evaluate images for quality and diagnostic acceptability; repeat when necessary.
  • Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment; report malfunctions.
  • Document procedures accurately in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Adhere to health, safety, and infection control regulations.
  • Assist in training students and junior staff.
  • Participate in on-call, weekend, and emergency rotations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology / Medical Imaging.
  • Licensure: Valid registration with [National/State Radiography Board, e.g., ARRT, HCPC].
  • Certifications: BLS preferred; specialty certifications (CT, MRI, Mammography) an advantage.
  • Experience: [1–2] years of radiography experience preferred.
  • Skills: Technical proficiency, attention to detail, patient care, and radiation safety knowledge.
