CCBRT is committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible and is extensively involved in maternal and newborn healthcare activities, including obstetric fistula repairs. Its Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high-risk and emergency deliveries in the Dar es Salaam and Eastern Zone of Tanzania.

As part of the expansion of its services and strengthening of its existing team, CCBRT is seeking a motivated and qualified Quality and Safety Officer to join CCBRT Hospital.

The Role

The Quality and Safety Officer will support the Quality Assurance Department in monitoring and assessing the implementation of quality services across all levels and areas of the organization.

The position will lead the CCBRT Quality Improvement Plan and Nursing and Midwifery audits while supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organization's quality management systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, coordination and control of the structure and framework of the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Lead and support the implementation of 5S, KAIZEN and Total Quality Management (TQM) across the organization.
• Define and integrate the Quality Management System into the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).
• Conduct internal 5S, KAIZEN, TQM and Lean training and awareness sessions for staff.
• Support the Quality Assurance Department in implementing quality-related structures and processes within Nursing and Midwifery.
• Support the Head of Quality Assurance on daily quality-related matters.
• Conduct internal quality audits and follow up on audit findings and recommendations.
• Prepare quality reports and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Support the hospital in managing complaints related to quality.
• Support scientific problem-solving processes.
• Monitor and assess progress in implementing the Quality Improvement Plan across all levels and areas of the organization.
• Monitor compliance with the agreed Quality Management System.
• Assess documentation and provide capacity building to address identified gaps.
• Support departments across the organization in improving processes, procedures and guidelines.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing new policies, procedures and quality-related documents.
• Plan and conduct annual quality-related training programmes.
• Lead the implementation of the CCBRT Quality Improvement Plan.
• Collect and analyze client feedback and prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
• Conduct capacity building for teams on areas requiring improvement based on customer feedback.
• Support the review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Communicate progress on the Quality Improvement Plan to relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate internal assessments on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).
• Conduct Nursing and Clinical audits.
• Support continuous quality improvement initiatives across the hospital.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a health-related field such as Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Health Administration or Public Health.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience.
• Experience working in a Quality Assurance or Quality Management function will be an added advantage.
• Clinical skills and experience in managing different categories of patients.
• Ability to conduct clinical audits.
• Experience or skills in training, coaching and mentoring different cadres of staff.
• Strong ability to mobilize and work effectively with teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Good communication skills in both English and Swahili.
• Flexibility and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
