Role Purpose
To plan, coordinate, and execute capital expenditure projects across all SBL sites. The role is responsible for safe and timely delivery of cost-effective, and fit-for-purpose capex projects that enable operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth across all three sites.
Top Accountabilities
Projects Delivery
- Lead in the development of 3-year Capex rolling plans together with businesses stakeholders.
- Lead the annual capex projects lifecycle from planning, concept development, design, costing through to commissioning and handover.
- Manage cross-functional teams and external vendors to deliver local projects on time, within scope and budget.
- Performance management of the project team, professional service providers in architecture, building services engineering, civil and structural engineers and quantity surveyors, project safety service provider and contractors both local and international
- Key gate keeper of capex governance Processes related to delivery of projects in compliance with company rules and regulation
- Key advisor in the selection of the best alternatives to adopt or approaches for complex projects
- Benchmarking and review of engineering standards for best execution of projects
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Embed a strong safety culture within all local projects and ensure full compliance with EHS standards and local regulations.
- Ensure infrastructure solutions align with engineering standards, GMP (where applicable), and sustainability targets.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all infrastructure works and certifications.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Quality, SHEQ, Procurement, Finance, and Corporate Affairs teams to ensure business priorities.
- Support regulatory engagement and approval processes for infrastructure projects.
Cost and Performance Optimization
- Drive value engineering and cost-efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor performance of infrastructure systems and propose improvements to enhance reliability, availability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and ensure lessons learned are integrated into future project planning.
Qualification & Experience:
Qualifications
- BSc Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil.
- Postgraduate qualification in Engineering or Business Studies is desirable.
- Registered Professional with Engineers Board.
- Certified PMP-Project management
Skills & Experience
- At least 7 years as a design/project engineer or maintenance engineer or a combination of these in FMCG and at least 3 years in other senior roles in supply.
- Diploma in Brewing & Distilling or at least 5 years’ experience in the brewing industry is an added advantage.
- Good grasp and understanding of the processes – brewing, spirits blending, packaging and grain handling.
- Commercial awareness and exposure to other areas of a supply chain business
- Strong Project Financial Appraisal and Project Management Skills.
