1. Background
The Norwegian Association of Disabled (NAD) is an independent human rights organization of persons with disabilities. Our vision is a society for all, where NAD has head office in Oslo, Norway and interests. Over the next five years, NAD will be country lead for the Tanzania Country Programme, which includes 5 Organizations, that will implement the project called Collective Action for Disability Rights (CADiR).
Programme Coordinator
Location: Zanzibar
In this position, you are expected to travel to the Mainland Tanzania (Mostly Dar-es-salaam and Dodoma) at least once a month. The frequency can vary as the project develops.
Reports to: Country Director
2.1.1 Role and Responsibilities
- Programme Coordination: To ensure the effective coordination of all local partners involved in the CADiR Project, ensuring alignment with project objectives, workplans, and the overall results framework.
- Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E): To lead the Monitoring and Evaluation efforts, ensuring progress towards achieving the project’s goals and outcomes.
- Contribute to Development and Sustainability of NAD’s Work in Tanzania: To actively support the long-term growth and sustainability of NAD’s operations in Tanzania by fostering relationships, identifying new opportunities for expansion, and ensuring the continued impact of NAD’s work.
- Strengthening Learning, Collaboration, and the Sustainability of NAD’s Work: To facilitate continuous through technical reflection and knowledge exchange. To connect NAD Zanzibar with global teams to ensure mutual learning, while contributing to strategic planning, donor reporting, and proposal development.
2.1.2 Qualifications
- A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Human work, social sciences, law, project management, or another relevant field.
- A minimum of 6 years of work experience in the community work and development sector, with demonstrated expertise in project management and partner coordination.
- Proven experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) in donor funded projects.
- Proven Experience in managing and guiding a diverse team of stakeholders.
- Experience in engaging government stakeholders.
- Have strong network connections within the disability rights and inclusion sector in Tanzania and beyond.
2.1.3 Skills, Abilities and Attitudes
- Ability to create commitment, be creative, and show initiative.
- Strong collaboration and coordination skills—internally with NAD staff and externally with local partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to understand complex contexts and adapt to evolving project needs.
- Implementation ability—ensuring the project’s activities are carried out on time, within budget, and in time as we contribute where we are needed.
- Innovative thinking to solve challenges and enhance project impact.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting, presentation, and building relationships.
- Language fluency in Kiswahili and English.
- A commitment to accountability, trust and inclusion.
- The ability to build alliances and networks that benefit the project and promote the rights of persons with disabilities.
