About the Role

We are seeking a committed and experienced Program Manager – Women’s Empowerment to lead the design, implementation, and oversight of programs aimed at improving the social, economic, and leadership outcomes of women and girls in the Serengeti/Mara region.

The Program Manager will work closely with women’s groups, community leaders, local partners, and internal teams to ensure programs are impactful, culturally responsive, and sustainable. This is a field-based role suited for someone passionate about gender equality and community-led development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and oversee women’s empowerment programs, ensuring timely and high-quality implementation
  • Lead program activities focused on areas such as women’s livelihoods, leadership, education, health, and rights
  • Engage closely with women’s groups, community members, local authorities, and partner organizations
  • Develop and manage program work plans, budgets, and timelines
  • Monitor program progress, collect data, and assess impact against defined indicators
  • Prepare accurate narrative and financial reports for donors and internal stakeholders
  • Identify program risks and challenges and implement adaptive solutions
  • Ensure safeguarding, gender, and inclusion principles are fully integrated into program activities
  • Build capacity of field staff, community facilitators, and local partners
  • Represent the organization in relevant coordination meetings and forums

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related field
  • 2–4 years of experience managing development or empowerment programs, preferably within an NGO
  • Demonstrated experience working on women’s empowerment or gender-focused initiatives
  • Strong understanding of community-based programming and participatory approaches
  • Excellent coordination, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based, rural setting
  • Willingness to live and work in the Serengeti/Mara region

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, savings groups, or skills training for women
  • Knowledge of gender-transformative programming approaches
  • Experience with donor-funded projects and reporting
  • Monitoring and evaluation experience, including gender indicators
