Background

The Decca College of Health and Allied Sciences (DECOHAS), a fully registered and accredited private institution under NACTVET, is seeking a visionary and high-caliber academic leader for the position of Principal.

As the head of one of Tanzania’s key health training colleges, you will be based in Dodoma and will be responsible for balancing academic excellence with the institution’s strategic and financial sustainability. DECOHAS provides a wide range of NTA Level 4–6 programs, training the next generation of health, social work, and agricultural professionals.

Role Purpose

Academic & Strategic Leadership

The Principal is the overall in-charge of institute activities, serving as the bridge between the Board of Directors and the academic staff. You will lead the institution in fulfilling its mission to improve population health across Tanzania through innovative curricula and research.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Administrative Leadership: Oversee all administrative and academic service delivery, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently.
• Quality Assurance: Advise on leadership matters related to academic standards and ensure full compliance with NACTVET regulations.
• Strategic Development: Participate in the evaluation of academic performance and recommend new programs to meet societal needs.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Foster relationships with the government, other educational institutions, and community partners.
• Research & Consultancy: Promote institutional consultancy services and support academic research projects.
• Reporting: Prepare the annual academic performance reports and manage the college’s overall operational excellence.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

DECOHAS is looking for a self-motivated and committed individual with a proven track record in education management.

• Education: Holder of a Master’s Degree in Education Management, Business Administration (MBA), Human Resources, Finance, or any relevant Science/Social Science discipline.
• Added Advantage: Candidates with a PhD or at least 3 years of experience in a similar Principal-level role will have a distinct advantage.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of working experience in institutional leadership.
• Soft Skills: Must be flexible, honest, hardworking, and capable of leading in a multicultural environment.
