Position Overview:
We are seeking the qualified and experienced Pastry Chef who will be responsible for all pastry operations, ensuring exceptional quality, creativity, and consistency in all baked goods and desserts. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all pastries meet Elewana’s luxury standards and align with guest expectations.
- Monitor consistency in portioning, texture, and freshness across all pastry items.
- Actively participate in updating pastry menus based on seasonal produce to maintain freshness and variety.
- Ensure the best use and preservation of fresh ingredients, reducing waste and maximizing profitability.
- Incorporate seasonal fruits and vegetables creatively in pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
- Ensure the highest culinary standards are displayed on the breakfast pastries
- Ensure guest room coffee stations are stocked with fresh items to enhance the coffee experience.
- Ensure that all room amenities are up to date.
- Maintain strict food safety standards to ensure all pastries are prepared in a clean and sanitized environment.
- Prevent cross-contamination in handling dairy, nuts, and gluten based products.
- Monitor ingredient stock levels, ensuring timely orders and minimizing waste.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Pastry Chef
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking, and dessert plating.
- Knowledge of food cost control, waste management, and stock rotation.
- Creativity and innovation in pastry and dessert preparation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in recipes and presentations.
- Time management skills and ability to handle high-volume production.
- Ability to handle emergencies and stressful situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clear criminal record.
- Valid security license (if required by local regulations).
- Excellent command of English and Swahili.
