Purpose of the Job
The Officer – Portfolio Monitoring and ESG Compliance is responsible for monitoring the performance of the Bank's credit portfolio, maintaining portfolio quality, and ensuring compliance with Bank policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure proper implementation of the Bank's credit policies and procedures and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage and control credit portfolio quality by adhering to approved policies and procedures.
- Identify, measure, and monitor credit risk across a range of on- and off-balance sheet exposures.
- Identify early warning signals and take timely remedial actions to mitigate risks.
- Monitor and follow up daily on overdue assigned accounts and ensure overdue exposures are reduced in a timely manner.
- Identify and report significant overdue exposures and associated risks to the line manager, escalate to Management in line with the escalation matrix, and drive timely regularization or closure.
- Support the minimization of impairment provisions through vigorous follow-up on account regularization and prevention of accounts migrating to non-performing status (NPA).
- Issue demand notices and reminders to borrowers in default, requesting payment of overdue amounts in line with the Bank's credit policy.
- Track expiry of credit facilities and coordinate with Relationship Managers to ensure timely renewals in line with the Bank's credit policy.
- Conduct borrower visits together with assigned Relationship Managers for overdue facilities to assess business performance and agree on turnaround and repayment strategies.
- Arrange regular portfolio performance meetings (daily, weekly, or monthly as applicable) with Relationship Managers and Business Unit Heads.
- Ensure all terms and conditions stipulated during the credit sanctioning process are complied with and follow up with Relationship Managers on outstanding items.
- Review sanctioned and renewed facilities to confirm compliance with the Bank's Environmental and Social (E&S) requirements.
- Work closely with the Credit Origination team during the credit sanctioning process to identify potential E&S risks and agree on mitigation measures.
- Continuously review and update E&S compliance practices to reflect changes in regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
- Compile and report E&S performance metrics to internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Support the Portfolio Monitoring and ESG Compliance Manager in identifying market trends and contributing to strategies that strengthen the end-to-end credit process.
- Support audit reviews by tracking agreed actions and ensuring timely closure of all audit findings within agreed timelines.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Banking, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of banking experience in a related field, including at least one (1) year in Credit Monitoring or Portfolio Monitoring.
- Strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
