Responsibilities

The Occupational Health Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Providing nursing care at the North Mara Mine Clinic.
  • Conducting daily patient triage and ensuring smooth attendance at the clinic.
  • Administering medicines, injections and vaccinations as prescribed by the doctor.
  • Assisting with investigations such as audiometry, spirometry and vision screening during medical check-ups.
  • Conducting routine inspections of clinic and ambulance equipment.
  • Maintaining employees’ medical records.
  • Conducting the return-to-work programme following work-related injuries or periods of prolonged ill health.
  • Assessing the work environment for potential health and safety hazards.
  • Delivering health- and safety-related training programmes, including site induction.
  • Participating in meetings and health-promotion activities.
  • Delivering health awareness sessions.
  • Implementing health initiatives and programmes, including the PHE scheme, First Aid, the HIV/AIDS Workplace Programme and malaria programmes.
  • Keeping up to date with legal and professional changes associated with public health and occupational health and safety.

Qualification requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.

Experience and competencies

  • Two to three years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience working in the mining industry will be an added advantage.
