Mkulazi Holding Company Limited (MHCL) is inviting qualified and experienced Tanzanians to apply for the position of Mechanical Technician – Boiler. The successful candidate will report to the Mechanical Engineer – Boiler and will be responsible for supporting boiler operations, maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting activities to ensure efficient and reliable plant performance.

The role requires technical competence in boiler systems, preventive maintenance, equipment inspection, and operational support within industrial environments. The selected candidate will work closely with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime, improve equipment reliability, and maintain safe boiler operations according to company standards and operational procedures.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Conducting routine maintenance and troubleshooting of boiler systems and auxiliary equipment
  • Ensuring optimal boiler performance while minimizing plant downtime
  • Supporting boiler operations according to prescribed safety standards and operational procedures
  • Conducting inspections, audits, servicing, and maintenance of boiler systems during scheduled operations and off-crop maintenance periods
  • Monitoring boiler and auxiliary equipment performance and reporting operational issues
  • Collaborating with team members to implement maintenance strategies and operational plans
  • Participating in technical training programs to improve knowledge and skills in boiler operations and maintenance
  • Supporting efficient factory operations and overall plant initiatives
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in compliance with safety regulations
  • Preparing operational and maintenance reports related to boiler equipment performance
  • Using operational data to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Performing any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field from a recognized institution
  • Technical training in mechanical engineering specifically in steam generation systems will be an added advantage
  • Basic understanding of maintenance and troubleshooting of boiler systems
  • Good knowledge of industrial safety procedures and maintenance practices
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in industrial environments and under pressure

Experience needed

  • Minimum of five (5) years working experience in boiler operations and maintenance roles
  • Experience in sugar industries or related processing industries will be preferred
