Background

Through its Axian Digibank & Fintech division, the company delivers innovative mobile financial services (MFS), digital banking, and payment solutions across multiple African markets. As part of its ongoing digital transformation and platform modernization initiatives, Axian Group is seeking to recruit a highly experienced professional for the position of MFS Implementation Manager.
The MFS Implementation Manager will be responsible for leading the end-to-end planning, delivery, migration, and implementation of mobile financial services platforms across multiple markets. The role requires strong expertise in core wallet systems, mobile money platforms, fintech implementation, vendor management, migration strategy, and full project lifecycle execution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Owning the full project lifecycle, including scoping, implementation design, prerequisite alignment, migration planning, build, testing, cutover, and stabilization.
- Defining migration strategies for platform swaps from legacy systems to selected core wallet solutions such as Telepin, Comviva, Amdocs, or in-house platforms.
- Leading data migration planning, including development of migration strategies, parallel runs, fallback planning, and customer communication plans.
- Ensuring seamless integration of the core wallet platform with surrounding systems, including:
- Loan Management Systems
- Payment gateways
- Card management systems
- Mobile applications
- USSD and SMSC systems
- Payment switches
- Core banking systems
- CRM platforms
- Data lakes
- AML and fraud monitoring systems
- Regulatory reporting systems
- Validating non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, security, observability, and transaction capacity.
- Leading first-time product configuration on the core wallet platform, including wallets, fees, commissions, limits, KYC tiers, agent hierarchies, general ledger mapping, and reconciliation rules.
- Ensuring product configuration aligns with business unit requirements and operational processes.
- Leading all migration and cutover activities, including dry runs, data validation, customer balance reconciliation, switchover execution, and rollback readiness.
- Managing core wallet vendors and third-party providers from both commercial and operational perspectives.
- Ensuring vendor compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and contractual obligations.
Qualification and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A Master’s Degree or PMP certification will be considered an added advantage.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in fintech, mobile money, or digital banking environments.
- Strong hands-on experience in deploying, migrating, and managing core wallet and mobile financial services platforms.
- Experience with platforms such as Telepin, Comviva, Ericsson Wallet Platform, Huawei CPS, or equivalent systems.
- Proven track record of leading end-to-end core platform deployments or vendor swap projects.
- Experience working across multiple African markets in multi-country environments.
- Exposure to regulatory environments, including central banks and telecom regulators.
- Understanding of telecom operator (OPCO) operating models.
- Strong technical understanding of adjacent ecosystem components, including payment systems, agent networks, reconciliation systems, and mobile financial infrastructure.
