Job Summary:
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Leaf Technician to support field-level operations related to tobacco production, procurement, and quality monitoring. The successful candidate will work closely with farmers and internal teams to ensure high-quality leaf production aligned with company standards and agricultural best practices.
Job Descriptions.
- Provide technical assistance and agronomic guidance to contracted tobacco growers.
- Monitor crop performance, pest and disease incidence, and ensure timely intervention.
- Conduct regular field visits to assess compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and sustainability standards.
- Assist in the classification, grading, and documentation of harvested tobacco leaf.
- Support the Area Leaf Manager in planning and executing buying programs and logistical arrangements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on farmer performance, field visits, and crop progress.
- Participate in grower training sessions, field demonstrations, and community engagement activities.
- Report on leaf quality, production challenges, and farmer compliance in the assigned area.
- Ensure safety and hygiene practices are adhered to during all field operations.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in tobacco or commercial crop production.
- Good understanding of tobacco agronomy, crop cycles, and field operations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with rural communities.
- Ability to work independently and travel regularly to rural areas.
- Familiar with basic computer applications and data entry (MS Office or mobile data tools).
- Valid driver’s or motorcycle license (as required for field mobility).
