Job Summary
The Inventory Officer is responsible for managing inventory levels, maintaining accurate stock records, and ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and issuance of materials and equipment. The role supports operational efficiency by ensuring inventory accuracy and minimizing stock shortages or excess inventory.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials and equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and stock registers.
- Monitor stock levels and recommend timely replenishment.
- Conduct regular stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Store Operations
- Ensure proper storage and handling of inventory items.
- Organize the warehouse or store for efficient access and utilization.
- Issue materials to departments in accordance with approved procedures.
- Monitor inventory movements and maintain appropriate documentation.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare inventory reports and stock movement summaries.
- Maintain inventory records using inventory management systems.
- Ensure compliance with company inventory policies and procedures.
- Support internal and external inventory audits.
Coordination
- Work closely with procurement, finance, and operations teams.
- Assist in forecasting inventory requirements based on operational needs.
- Recommend improvements to inventory control processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Warehouse Management, or a related field.
- Professional membership with a recognized procurement or supply chain body is an added advantage.
Experience
- Relevant experience in inventory, warehouse, or stores management, preferably in an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
