Responsibilities or duties,

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
  • Monitoring patients' vital signs and promptly reporting any changes in patient condition to the responsible clinician.
  • Assisting in the management of patients requiring life-support equipment, including ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps, and other critical care devices.
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed and in accordance with nursing standards and hospital policies.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely nursing records, reports, and documentation.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Assisting in emergency procedures, resuscitations, and other critical care interventions.
  • Collaborating effectively with doctors and nurses to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, continuous professional development, and departmental meetings.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by management in line with professional competence and hospital requirements.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Registration with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC) and a valid practicing license.
  • Additional training or certification in Critical Care Nursing, ICU Nursing, Basic Life Support (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) will be an added advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of critical care nursing principles and patient monitoring.
  • Ability to operate and monitor ICU equipment effectively.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, commitment to patient safety, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Flexible and willing to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, public holidays, overtime, and extra duties as required by hospital operations.

Experience needed,

  • At least one (1) year of working experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU), or Emergency Department.
