JOB DETAILS:
The Weights and Measures Agency (WMA) is an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade responsible for enforcing legal metrology standards and ensuring accuracy and fairness in trade measurements across Tanzania. Established under the Executive Agencies Act, Cap. 245, the Agency plays an important role in protecting consumers, improving public confidence in trade systems, and supporting national economic development through efficient service delivery.
As part of its commitment to empowering young graduates through practical training and workplace exposure, WMA invites applications from qualified, competent, and motivated Tanzanians to fill One (1) volunteer position for the post of ICT Officer II. The volunteering programme offers an excellent opportunity for graduates to gain hands-on experience in database management, information systems support, and ICT operations within a government institution.
The ICT Officer II will support database development, system maintenance, information security, and troubleshooting activities to ensure effective and reliable ICT services within the Agency. The role requires individuals with strong technical knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to work in dynamic ICT environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and test databases to support organizational systems and operations
• Implement database security measures and access control systems
• Participate in designing various databases, including server configuration, security, disaster recovery, backups, database structures, logical data models, scripts, and stored procedures
• Participate in creating, overseeing, and maintaining database reference materials and libraries
• Assist in testing application updates, system enhancements, and changes
• Troubleshoot and solve problems related to database development and ICT systems
• Support data management and system optimization activities within the Agency
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by supervisors
Qualifications and Experience:
• Holder of Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Network Engineering, Information Systems, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related discipline from a recognized institution
• Good understanding of database management systems and ICT infrastructure
• Knowledge of system security, server configuration, and database backup procedures
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team
• Good communication and report writing skills
• Computer literacy and familiarity with modern ICT tools and technologies

Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 35 years

Applicants must attach certified copies of academic and professional certificates, academic transcripts, and birth certificates
Applicants must have two guarantors who are Public Servants
Applicants must attach an introduction letter from the Village/Street Executive Officer or relevant Local Government Authority
Applicants must be willing to volunteer in the respective assigned area
Applicants must attach a copy of the National Identification Card (NIDA)
Applicants must not have been convicted by any Court of Law for criminal or disciplinary offences and must possess good conduct and acceptable moral character within the community
Applicants must not have been employed by any Public Institution since graduation
Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statements of Results, and Form IV and Form VI Results Slips shall not be accepted
All foreign academic certificates must be recognized by the relevant authorities, namely TCU, NECTA, or NACTVET. Applicants applying for positions requiring a specific GPA must attach a GPA Calculation Certificate issued by TCU.
The volunteering programme is strictly intended for skills development and acquisition of work experience and shall not be construed as a basis for automatic employment in the Public Service
