Background

TPC Ltd is one of the respected sugar producing companies in Tanzania. The company is situated at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, 22kms south of Moshi Municipality. Applications are invited from qualified, energetic, proactive, and dynamic Tanzanians to fill the following vacant position.

Job Summary Statement

We are seeking a skilled, motivated young Tanzanian with Fitter Mechanic level 1 or relevant qualification from VETA or any other institution recognized by NACTE to fill the position of helper mechanic at Irrigation service section within TPC LTD.

Key Performance Areas (Duties & Responsibilities)

• Assisting mechanic in performing daily preventive pump maintenance on all irrigation pump within TPC estate.
• Collaborate with mechanics in attending all mechanical pump breakdown that may occur within TPC estate.
• Ensure working environment at irrigation workshop and site are clean and tidy before start working.
• Follow work procedure and ensure safety among workers and use of proper PPE during working.
• Performing any other responsibility as assigned by your supervisor.

Academic Qualifications

• Fitter mechanic level 1, fitting and turning level 1 or relevant qualification from VETA or any other recognized institution by NACTE.

Work Experience

• 1 to 2 years working experience on surface casing, submersible and vertical turbine pump (preferably on sugar estate) would be a significant advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Excellent communication both in English and Swahili and interpersonal skills (listening skills, verbal communication etc).
• High level of integrity, honesty and accountability
• Teamwork
• Time management
• Able to use mechanical tools and handling it in a proper manner.

Behavioural Competencies

• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work, capable of working odd hours as needed.
• Strong initiative and self-driven ability.
• Alignment to TPC Core Values.
