HME Maintenance HV Electrician (03) Vacancies
Position Description
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit an HME Maintenance HV Electrician. Reporting to the Auto Electrical and Automation Foreman, the HME Maintenance is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex high-voltage electrical systems on mobile mining or heavy industrial equipment. This role requires specialized expertise in HV power distribution, motor control, automation, and safety protocols to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and comply with all regulatory standards in a challenging operational environment.

Reporting to: Auto Electrical and Automation Foreman
Duration: Permanent
Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on high voltage electrical systems (e.g., 600V to 1000V) of mobile equipment
- Diagnose complex electrical faults using specialized test equipment and schematic diagrams on components such as transformers, switchgear, rectifiers, large motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and control systems.
- Execute precise and safe HV cable termination, testing, and fault location for trailing cables and on-board power systems.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to identify potential failures and extend the lifespan of electrical components
- Strictly adhere to all high voltage safety procedures, including Lock-Out, Tag-Out and Try Out (LOTOTO), Permit to Work (PTW) systems, arc flash boundaries, and specified Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure all electrical work complies with Barrick standards, relevant electrical codes, mine acts, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a high level of hazard awareness, particularly when working near energized equipment or in challenging underground/surface conditions
- Systematically approach fault finding to minimize diagnostic time and maximize equipment availability
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and testing within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Complete, clear, and concise work orders, shift reports, and other necessary documentation.
- Report equipment status, potential issues, and safety concerns to supervisors and operations personnel promptly
- Collaborate effectively with mechanical technicians, operators, engineers, and other trades to ensure integrated and efficient equipment maintenance.
- Communicate technical information and work progress clearly to supervisors and cross-functional teams.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Local electrician employees on HV safety and mobile equipment systems.
Qualification Requirements:
- An electrician certification or equivalent recognized electrical trade qualification/license.
- Specific certifications or training in High Voltage safety, operations, and maintenance.
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience as a qualified electrician, with a significant portion of that time dedicated to high voltage electrical systems on heavy mobile equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex electrical faults on large machinery effectively.
- Experience with various OEM equipment, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with relevant local and national electrical safety standards and regulations
