OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

To learn, assist and support underground drill and blast daily duties.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist with daily drill and blast reports, schedules, and plans in accordance with the site production plan requirements.
  • Participate in explosive store inspections on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Prepare charge plans.
  • Prepare drill designs.
  • Assist with drill and blast stope note inputs preparation.
  • Undertake general administration duties and participate in site audits as required.
  • Report on all safety matters relating to underground drill and blast operations.
  • Ensure all statutory reporting requirements are met in relation to safety and environmental incident deadlines within the department.
  • Be responsible for all QA/QC monitoring and data capturing relating to underground drill and blast.
  • Adhere to GGML safety and health policy and procedures.
  • Comply with all company environmental standards.
  • Work with the Senior Engineer to assist in the compilation of all monthly progress reports relating to underground drill and blast.
  • Participate in electronic blasting preparation.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

  • Degree in B.Sc. in Mining Engineering.
  • Valid Driving License.
  • Valid Blasting Certificates.

Experience

  • At least 1 year of working experience in underground drill and blast.
  • Experience working at a mechanized mine.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams to achieve successful outcomes.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Working knowledge of underground mining and haulage.
  • Understanding of drill design assumptions.
  • Demonstrated experience with autonomous decision making and creating contingency plans.
  • Demonstrable record of managing data and report.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with and manage a culturally diversified workforce.
  • Ability to work across all disciplines, where rigorous engagement and interaction is expected.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision while strictly adhering to safety and task priorities.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written.
