Amani Centre for Street Children is a leading Tanzanian charity with over 20 years of existence rescuing street‐connected children, offering them safe shelter, education, health and holistic family reintegration. Each year we support more than 250 children off the streets, provide continued education for over 350, and maintain ongoing support to both children and their families. Our approach is rooted in care, love, safety, and opportunity for every child. We are looking for two dynamic, mission-driven professionals to join our growing team:

POSITION: FUNDRAISING & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR – Moshi (Full-time, On-site)

Reports to: Executive Director

Supervises: Volunteer Supervisor, Content Creator, Database Manager

Location: Moshi, Tanzania

Role Purpose

To lead and coordinate Amani’s communications, public visibility, community engagement, and fundraising campaigns, ensuring that Amani’s impact is effectively communicated, donors are engaged, and awareness of the issues facing street children is raised. This role will help bring our story to donors, the public, media, and the broader community in Tanzania and abroad.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Storytelling

  • Develop and maintain a communications strategy that captures, amplifies, and shares Amani’s impact stories, child success stories, and project outcomes.
  • Manage all external communication channels: website content, social media platforms, newsletters, print materials.
  • Produce high quality, emotionally resonant content (written, photo, video) to engage stakeholders.

Fundraising Campaigns & Donor Support

  • Plan and implement fundraising campaigns (digital, direct mail, events) targeting new and existing donors.
  • Prepare donor reports (narrative & financial), updates, thank-you communications, to ensure good stewardship and retention of donors.

Community & Media Relations

  • Build and sustain relationships with local media, journalists, and community influencers to increase visibility of Amani’s mission.
  • Coordinate community events, awareness days, fundraising events, open houses, etc.
  • Represent Amani in local forums, public speaking engagements, and partnerships.

Monitoring, Data & Accountability

  • Maintain an up-to-date donor database and communication tracker.
  • Monitor performance of campaigns and adjust strategies based on metrics (e.g., reach, donation conversion, engagement).
  • Ensure quality control of all communications content, consistent branding, accuracy, and alignment with Amani’s values.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in communications, fundraising, or outreach, ideally within NGOs or child welfare organizations.
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling ability; ability to translate impact into compelling narratives.
  • Experience with digital media tools, social media campaigns, content creation (video/photo).
  • Experience in events planning and media relations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field; post-graduate studies a bonus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to engage with children, families, donors, media, staff.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to Moshi, with a commitment to staying for at least 2 years.
