GENERAL DEFINITION OF ROLE
Imperium Opes Group Limited is a one stop supply chain service provider, offering integrated services in Supply of Industrial Automation products and solutions, Logistics and Customs Clearing & Forwarding. We are appointing a Finance Manager to own the full financial control environment, lead a four-person team, and serve as the organisation’s primary statutory compliance officer and offer strategic support to the business.
FINANCIAL CONTROL & STATUTORY COMPLIANCE
- Maintain and enforce internal controls within the organization
- Review and co-sign all bank reconciliations prepared by the Accounts Officer
- Review and co-sign all monthly stock count sheets
- Conduct a monthly QuickBooks audit — verify posting accuracy across all four team members and flag discrepancies within 2 working days.
- Own the complete TRA and other regulatory bodies/agency statutory compliance
- Serve as primary contact and responsible for all TRA desk and field audits
- Working capital management
REPORTING & MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTS
- Deliver complete monthly management accounts to the MD by the 10th of each following.
- Prepare a 90-day rolling cash flow forecast, updated every week, and present liquidity position to the MD weekly.
- Preparation and consolidation of departmental budgets into a single master budget; monitor and report variances monthly.
- Produce monthly financial performance reports with KPIs across both trading and logistics business lines.
- Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS
- Working capital management within comply with companies policy
- Prepare financial modelling for all proposed capital expenditure above TZS 10,000,000
- Provide cost-of-service analysis to support logistics rate negotiations and trading margin reviews.
- Maintain a Finance Risk Register covering FX exposure, credit risk, tax risk, regulatory risk, and operational risk; review with the MD semi-annually.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION
- Lead, supervise, and appraise four direct reports
- Conduct monthly one-on-one performance check-ins with each direct report; prepare and submit annual performance appraisals in coordination with HR.
- Build and maintain a cross-training plan ensuring every critical finance function has at least one trained relief officer capable of covering for a minimum of two weeks.
- Organise regular Finance team meetings to review compliance calendar, open items, and upcoming deadlines.
- Identify training needs and coordinate CPD opportunities with HR; onboard all new Finance Department staff and ensure full documentation of role responsibilities and system access.
- Ensure payroll is reviewed, approved, and submitted to the MD for authorisation before the last working day of each month; verify that no salary change, new hire, or leaver is processed without a signed HR instruction.
- Review and approve the weekly supplier payment run proposal submitted by the Payables Officer every Thursday.
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS & STRATEGIC CONTRIBUTION
- Manage the relationship with the company’s bankers — prepare financial information packs for credit facilities, overdraft renewals, performance bonds, advance payment guarantees, and loan applications.
- Manage the full insurance portfolio: fleet/motor, cargo in transit, employer’s liability, fire & burglary, and group life/medical — conducting an annual adequacy review and lodging all claims within insurer timeframes.
- Serve as primary liaison with external auditors for the annual audit — control all document production, review all schedules before release, and prepare the formal management response to audit findings.
- Maintain the company’s banking relationships and negotiate terms on credit facilities, FX transactions, and overdraft arrangements.
- Attend weekly and monthly MD review meetings; present financial performance with a clear narrative — what happened, why, and what it means for the next quarter.
- Contribute to the annual business plan by building the financial model — revenue projections, cost assumptions, headcount plan, and capital requirements.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum: CPA (T) — full qualification from NBAA or ACCA full membership is also accepted. Graduate Accountant (GA) status alone is not sufficient and will not be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification finance experience, with at least 2 years in a Finance Manager or equivalent role.
- Direct experience in trading and logistics is required. Candidates with NGO-only backgrounds will not be considered unless supported by substantial commercial finance experience.
- Proven hands-on experience with QuickBooks or equivalent ERP (SAP, Sage, Tally).
