Position Summary
The Field Manager will support the planning, organization, supervision, and monitoring of field operations to ensure they are carried out smoothly and effectively.
Responsibilities
Field Operations Monitoring & Compliance
- Monitor all field activities to ensure they meet IPA data-quality protocols, relevant regulations, policies, and safety standards.
Field Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and manage the field team, providing guidance, support, and supervision to deliver the project successfully.
- Build a cohesive, motivated team, foster collaboration and communication, track progress toward goals, and take corrective action when necessary.
Field Operations Planning & Risk Management
- Develop plans and strategies for field operations, including scheduling visits, allocating resources, and ensuring efficient deployment of personnel.
- Identify and assess potential risks, address challenges and unexpected issues during data collection, and implement effective solutions to keep the project on track.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare reports on data-collection progress, challenges, and successes, and maintain accurate records of field activities for internal and external reporting.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, sociology, community development or other related fields.
- Experience working in as field supervisor is required. This may include experience in field operations, data collection, project management, or related areas.
- Ability to lead and manage a team of field officers, provide guidance, and ensure the successful execution of field operations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in Swahili and English.
- Ability to identify and handle challenges that may arise during data collection.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and community members.
Preferred
- Ability to work effectively in diverse, multicultural environments.
- Proactive and well-organized, with a record of meeting deadlines.
- Confident, quick to learn, and able to adapt rapidly.
- Strong situational awareness to stay on top of multiple moving parts at all times.
- Previous experience with SurveyCTO and Stata.
- Digitally literate, with hands-on experience using tablets for data collection.
