Background

Mkulazi Holding Company Limited (MHCL) is inviting qualified and experienced Tanzanians to apply for the position of Electrical Technician. The successful candidate will report to the Electrical Engineer and will be responsible for supporting installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within the factory and agricultural facilities.

The role requires strong technical competence in electrical systems, power distribution, installation works, and maintenance operations to ensure continuous and reliable plant performance. The selected candidate will also support power generation monitoring, electrical fault diagnosis, and safe execution of electrical works in compliance with technical and safety standards.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Conducting routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and installations
  • Assisting in the operation and monitoring of power generation systems
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical faults and breakdowns to minimize downtime
  • Executing electrical installation works under supervision of senior staff
  • Ensuring proper wiring, cabling, and electrical connections according to technical standards
  • Maintaining cleanliness, safety, and orderliness in electrical work areas
  • Safeguarding tools, equipment, and materials used in electrical maintenance work
  • Adhering to electrical safety procedures and operational standards
  • Preparing basic maintenance reports and records of work performed
  • Assisting in testing and commissioning of newly installed electrical equipment
  • Reporting abnormalities, malfunctions, or hazards to senior staff for action
  • Participating in shift operations for power supply monitoring and equipment operation
  • Performing any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation from a recognized institution
  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) or equivalent certification will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience in electrical installation, maintenance, or power generation
  • Experience in sugar industry or industrial environments will be an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring standards, and safety procedures
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical faults effectively
  • Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in shifts and industrial environments under pressure
