Job Description

The Electrical Graduate Trainee programme offers recent engineering graduates an opportunity to gain practical experience in electrical engineering within the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. The programme is designed to develop technical and professional competencies by providing hands-on exposure to electrical systems, project implementation, commissioning activities, power distribution, instrumentation interfaces, and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.

The successful trainee will work closely with the CFR team, supporting the execution, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure across EACOP field sites in Uganda. Through structured learning, mentorship, and on-the-job training, the trainee will contribute to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems while building a strong foundation for a professional engineering career.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day monitoring of electrical equipment installation at EACOP project sites
  • Support electrical engineering activities during project execution, commissioning, and operational readiness phases
  • Participate in inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring of electrical installations
  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and electrical equipment documentation
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, maintenance records, and engineering documentation
  • Support compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and industry regulations
  • Promote adherence to engineering best practices throughout project activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, instrumentation, operations, and project personnel
  • Support successful implementation and delivery of electrical engineering activities across project sites
  • Participate in structured learning, mentorship, and graduate development programmes
  • Develop technical knowledge and professional competencies through practical workplace experience
  • Perform other engineering-related duties assigned as part of the graduate trainee programme

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field from a recognized university
  • Minimum academic qualification of Second Class Upper Division or above
  • Graduation completed within the last one (1) to two (2) years
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and engineering best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical engineering competencies
  • Good organizational and documentation skills
  • Membership or eligibility for registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB), Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE), or another relevant professional engineering body is an added advantage
