Job Summary:
The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies to protect the organization’s assets, personnel, and information. This executive role oversees physical security, cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance to mitigate threats and ensure business continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the organization’s security vision, policies, and procedures.
- Align security initiatives with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Lead crisis management and emergency response planning.
Cybersecurity & IT Security:
- Oversee the protection of digital assets, including data, networks, and systems.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
- Coordinate with IT teams to address vulnerabilities and cyber threats.
Physical Security & Risk Management:
- Manage access control, surveillance, and security personnel for facilities.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Investigate security breaches and incidents, providing actionable reports.
Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure adherence to local, national, and international security regulations.
- Liaise with law enforcement, government agencies, and industry bodies.
- Prepare and present security reports to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and mentor security personnel.
- Foster a culture of security awareness across the organization.
- Collaborate with departments (HR, Legal, IT) to integrate security best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: 10+ years in security management, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO).
- Physical Security Professional (PSP).
- Skills:
- Expertise in cybersecurity, physical security, and risk management.
- Strong knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, SOX, PCI-DSS).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- Attributes:
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to threat detection.
- Ability to influence and collaborate at the executive level.
