Boiler Operator – Zanzibar

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor steam boilers, water treatment plants, and fuel systems according to SOPs.
• Conduct routine checks on boiler parameters (pressure, temperature, water level) and auxiliaries (pumps, fans, valves).
• Perform water quality tests (hardness, pH, TDS) and carry out blowdown and chemical dosing.
• Carry out routine cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of boiler equipment.
• Maintain accurate log sheets of operations, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations and statutory boiler inspections.
• Respond promptly to steam supply issues or emergencies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid Boiler Operator’s Certificate of Competency (Class II or above).
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Plant Operation is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience operating industrial boilers (fuel-fired, preferably).

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical understanding of boiler systems and thermodynamics.
• Safety-conscious with knowledge of boiler safety codes.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a shift system.
• Responsible, vigilant, and detail-oriented.
• Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
