Summary: Assistant Accountant will be working in the department of accountancy to support the implementation of financial policies and practices for management. Assistant Accountant will be responsible for finance and administrative support ensuring day to day financial management functions and general office operations and procedures. He/she will be under the direct supervision of the Project Accountant and will assist with a wide range of duties, including reviewing data for accuracy, completeness, filing of supporting documents, data capturing, ensuring up-to-date filing system and scanning of all financial vouchers.
Assistant Accountant will be given an on-job training opportunity by being assigned to work on low value, low risk finance cases for which along each step of the way he/she will be guided on the LVIA financial policies and procedures including best practices.
Duration: The contract is 1 year period with 3 months of probation. High possibility to renewal, depending on funds availability & candidate’s performance.
Place of duty: Chake-Chake District, Pemba Island (LVIA Office).
Tentative starting date: June 2025.
Salary: According to the experience and level of education of the selected candidate.
About You: You must be a resident of Pemba Island, you enjoy spreadsheets but can join meetings confidently as well; you give great attention to detail, you can prioritize & meet multiple deadlines. You are English fluent, responsible, organizational & supervisory skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Accurately and efficiently enter financial data into accounting software (excel file)
- Knowledge of Local tax laws, codes, and regulations.
Functions:
- Monthly Scanning of finance documents
- Assist with bank reconciliations on a regular basis.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, both physical and electronic Assists with provision of requested documentations during the Project Audits Sessions.
- Review and ensure all payments are fully supported and EFD receipts are attached for paid invoices.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the Senior Accountant, or Project Manager.
