As part of its continued growth, HBS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. The successful candidate will support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, statutory compliance, and record management while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules
- Post journal entries and perform general ledger reconciliations
- Support tax filing and statutory compliance requirements, including TRA, NSSF, WCF, and PAYE obligations
- Assist in internal audits and the maintenance of accurate financial documentation
- Support the finance team in budgeting, forecasting, and cost-tracking activities
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documents
- Assist in monitoring transactions and ensuring compliance with financial procedures
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- NBAA registration as ATEC or Graduate Member is an added advantage
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools
- Knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Xero, or Zoho is an added advantage
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
