We are seeking an experienced Agri Digital Lending Specialist to support a leading mobile money and digital finance platform in Tanzania. This role will focus on developing, implementing, and managing digital lending products tailored to the agricultural sector , with the goal of improving access to financial services for farmers, agri-SMEs, and value chain participants.
This position plays a key role in:
- Designing innovative digital loan products that meet the needs of smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses
- Collaborating with financial institutions, agritech firms, and microfinance organizations to expand digital lending reach
- Conducting market research and customer behavior analysis to inform product development and performance improvement
- Ensuring all digital lending initiatives comply with regulatory standards and internal policies
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development & Execution
- Develop, execute, and manage the adoption strategy for agricultural digital lending products
- Design products based on sector research, business case development, and user insights
- Ensure penetration across different agricultural value chains including smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses
- Provide analytical insights and reports on product performance to guide strategic decisions
2. Product Roadmap & Innovation
- Innovate and develop new Agri Digital Loan products aligned with market demands and digital lending ambitions
- Continuously review and enhance current loan offerings to improve customer experience and profitability
- Drive product enhancements as part of the strategic roadmap
3. Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, agritech companies, cooperatives, and other stakeholders
- Support the Lending Manager in business negotiations to achieve organizational goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product rollout and client engagement
4. Business Intelligence & Market Insights
- Analyze customer behavior and loan performance data to provide actionable insights
- Conduct field surveys and market research to understand financing needs and gaps
- Develop customer engagement strategies to increase awareness and usage of digital lending products
- Integrate with Customer Value Management (CVM) platforms to enhance targeting and product usage
- Deliver timely market intelligence and competitor feedback
5. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all digital lending products align with regulatory frameworks governing agricultural finance and digital lending
- Monitor and implement updates based on financial service regulations
- Support risk compliance and regulatory approvals for new and existing products
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Finance, Economics, Business Administration , or a related field
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in digital lending, agricultural finance, fintech, or mobile financial services
- Proven experience working with digital platforms, credit risk models , and mobile money ecosystems
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage strategic partnerships with banks, Agri-Tech firms, and cooperatives
- Strong knowledge of local markets and customer needs in rural and semi-urban areas
- Familiarity with mobile money systems, Fintech platforms, and digital credit tools
Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills and conceptual thinking
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and business acumen
- Passion for driving innovation in mobile money growth and financial inclusion
- Self-motivated with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Deep understanding of agricultural value chains and financial inclusion strategies
Working Conditions
- Office-based with occasional field visits to assess impact and gather insights
- Fast-paced environment requiring adaptability and initiative
- Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including tech teams, compliance officers, and partner organizations
