Key responsibilities
The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Manage office expenditure and petty cash within the approved expenditure budgetary limits.
- Play a vital role in the company’s financial management, including account reconciliations and reporting to the necessary parties.
- Provide support and guidance to branch staff in their roles, including posting payments and posting transactions in the accounting system.
- Assess and authenticate the integrity of company data posted by branches and the Head Office to ensure accurate reports.
- Be fully accountable for accurate tax computation, timely tax filing, and payment of statutory obligations to ensure compliance.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations for all company bank accounts, M-Pesa Paybill and Bulk accounts, and fund transfers.
- Prepare and maintain the fixed asset register, schedules, and functions related to property, plant, and equipment.
Qualifications and skills
Applicants should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a business-related field.
- CPA or ACCA certification, either completed or in progress, is required.
- Two to three years of relevant experience in Accounts or Finance.
- Experience with different accounting software.
- Hands-on experience in banking systems will be an added advantage.
- Experience in the microfinance industry will be an added advantage.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
