Position summary
The Accountant will be responsible for managing Securiport Tanzania’s day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory obligations, company policies, and internal controls.
Key responsibilities
The Accountant will be responsible for:
- Recording daily transactions in the accounting system.
- Maintaining the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Preparing and processing journals, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Processing supplier invoices and payment documentation.
- Reconciling customer and supplier accounts.
- Performing regular bank reconciliations.
- Maintaining proper documentation for payments and receipts.
- Assisting with the preparation of periodic reports and annual financial statements.
- Providing supporting schedules and information to management and auditors.
- Assisting with the preparation of tax computations and statutory returns.
- Maintaining appropriate tax records and supporting documentation.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants should possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Three to five years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a structured corporate environment.
- A CPA qualification, which will be considered an advantage.
- Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, taxation, and internal controls.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and analytical skills.
- Expertise in network administration, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools and network management software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
